Here I am

On my phone

On the edge of the cliff

Trying anything to

Get some signal

Guess I’m missing some signs

The birds are chirping and

The plants are photosynthesizing

I need some sun

The insects live in my hair now

No welcome home mat for them

I’m trying to evict them

But first

I have to

Find my way home

I tread through the jungle

And find myself on a green mat

But this isn’t

Made of polyester

This is different from nature and

The past

What once was and

What will be again

Green will keep growing

After technology

And the Willow

Will outlive us all

A different version of

A night owl will arise

Not one dependent on coffee

Or binging that new series

That just dropped

It will keep growing

Past all ambitions

And when we leave the Earth barren

It will regrow

Moss over our bones

And weeds over our footprints

I live here now

In between the cowboy cologne

And fragrant white sage

Between the valleys of mountains

And the lakes

That are home

To tiny kingdoms

That are more resilient

Than we could hope for
